Take a Step for Women!

Did you know that most women in developing countries carry up to 15 kilograms of water, more than 5 kilometres, and for as long as 8 hours everyday?

Contribute towards empowering women in developing countries by participating in Brisbane's Spring Walk to be held on the 21st  September  2008, the International Day of Peace. (Details for the walk are provided below).

The money raised from Spring Walks in 2008, will go towards UNIFEM Australia's Peace Scholarship Programme, which provides opportunities for young women from developing countries to study at Australian Universities. These women have already contributed to peace and gender equality in their own countries, and have pledged to continue that commitment on their return home.

This programme empowers young women from East and South East Asia, Afghanistan and the Pacific and makes a valuable contribution towards promoting peace and equality throughout the world.
