Peace begins within ourselves. Then, we can work with Peace in our community and internationally.

Here are some ideas, what can you think of?

 Self                 Community   Internationally

Say 'Hello' to strangers you pass in the street, try to make them smile...

Hold a stall and sell locally made products, the proceeds could be donated to a charity/aid agency, or to sponsor a child.

I have been meaning to sponsor a child, and will use the Peace Day as an opportunity to finally do this. Monty, Australia

Organise your friends to hold a Peace Party, organise or attend a Peace Day event in your community.

Invite someone who has migrated to Australia from a conflict zone, to be a guest speaker at your next meeting, and ask them how your community or organisation can best help the refugee or migrant's home community.

Peace accords, brokered before September 21, could be 'signed off' on the International Day of Peace.

Slow down on the roads, let someone into traffic ahead of you.

Our singing group is going to be part of a concert which our local council has organised to commemorate the day. Sarah, Australia

Schools in peaceful societies could identify schools in conflict zones and send them commemorative messages. For example students could write messages of peace into origami doves and send them to schools in conflict zones.
